Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Consett, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you must present valid identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit are also necessary, along with any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Consett location. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and agreed upon by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same state it was collected, subject to normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel as it was provided; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may attract extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic offences, or other charges incurred during the rental, along with a handling fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every rental in Consett. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance provisions.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For accurate information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities or purposes, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden, as is exceeding passenger or weight limits. Operating the vehicle outside designated geographical boundaries without prior consent is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Consett will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms adhere to the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
Modifications to Terms
We can update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
