Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals in Consett are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle requires:

• To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Consett, you must be at least 21 years old, although different age limits may apply depending on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence is required, held for a minimum period as outlined in the Rental Agreement. Please present valid identification along with proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment information and a security deposit. Additional conditions may be specified in the Rental Agreement.

3. Reservations and Payments

• Reservations for car hire can be completed via our website, by telephone, or at our Consett office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment platforms.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection in Consett, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same state as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Please ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply for vehicles returned with less fuel. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur additional charges. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.

Insurance and Liability Terms

• All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional insurance is in place. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be mindful that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Restrictions on Vehicle Use

• Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar dangerous pursuits is not allowed. The transport of hazardous materials is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it was not designed for, including exceeding passenger or weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

8. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Consett will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the total rental fees you paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

9. Local Legal Standards

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant English and Welsh courts.

10. Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
